Support re:plyr
re:plyr is free. If you want to help with the bill, here is how.
Chipping in
re:plyr is free, and it stays free. If you want to help with the bill, you can. You choose the amount, once or monthly, and you can stop thinking about it afterwards.
Chip in on Ko-fiThis opens Ko-fi, which is a separate site. re:plyr never sees your card details. Ko-fi offers a one-off tip or a monthly one. A monthly one is a subscription you start and stop on Ko-fi, not here.
It buys you nothing
No extra storage, no features, and no priority on anything. It is voluntary, and it is non-refundable, because there is no purchase to unwind. That is deliberate: the moment a gift buys something, it stops being a gift.
re:plyr keeps no list of donors. The operator's payment account shows the name and email address a gift was paid with, which is kept for tax and never matched to an account. It shows any message left with the gift too. Ko-fi shows a supporter feed on its own page. That one is Ko-fi's, and re:plyr never reads it.
Why it is free
Every account gets 1 GB of storage. Every feature is on every account, and nothing is behind a wall. Filling the allowance locks nothing: however full it gets, what you have made stays readable, editable, shareable and exportable. Running out of room stops new uploads and nothing else, and nothing here is ever withheld to get money out of you.
re:plyr runs on Cloudflare, so the bill grows slowly. Storage is the part that grows, which is why it is the only thing with an allowance. Sites like this one tend to close because nobody could cover the cost, and that has happened more than once to the tools re:plyr replaces. Staying cheap to run is the plan for not joining them.
If you would rather not
Then don't. Nothing here will nag you, and no part of the site changes either way. Telling somebody the tool exists is worth more than a few pounds anyway.
If something is wrong, or you want something built, write to the contact page instead. That reaches the person who runs re:plyr, and it is more use than money.
re:plyr is run by Alex Hunter. More about who that is and why this exists.
